There is a pleasure in the pathless woods

Source: and everything is going to the beat…

I was recently in Glacier National Park in Montana. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had. Some lines I thought of when I found out about glaciers cutting through mountains in the region –

Persistence is everything. They say size matters, but these mountains, torn from the belly of the ocean by earthquakes could not stand the awesome force of ridiculously slow moving glaciers. It was sheer stubbornness with which ice, moving at as less as four miles per year, carved it’s way through this massive landscape and left behind beautiful lakes, large boulders with deep gashes and at some places, a unique feature – Arêtes – thin walls of rock that have been decimated on both sides by glaciers, as proof of their determination.

The quote is from a poem by Lord Byron and the images are from the movie – Into the Wild. I’ve not seen the movie yet, but I will soon…

What do you think?
